BRU-Iscte & Fulbright Portugal marked a decade of fostering management excellence with a special anniversary celebration. The event, held at Iscte, highlighted the significant impact of the Fulbright Award in Management over the past ten years.
Otília Macedo Reis, Executive Director of the Fulbright Commission, represented Fulbright Portugal at the ceremony.
The event was attended by Iscte Vice-Rector for Internationalisation, Maria das Dores Guerreiro, who, together with Ângela Noiva Gonçalves, Vice-Director General for Higher Education representing the President of the Commission’s Board of Directors, welcomed those present at the session and highlighted the importance of this partnership for both institutions.
The Director of the Business Research Unit, Maria de Fátima Salgueiro, took stock of this Fulbright Award, the only one in this area of study in Portugal, shared the very positive testimonies of the scholarship holders who have passed through the institution and was pleased with the significant impact that the Fulbright Programme has had on the collaborations between the Portuguese researchers of this unit and the Americans who visit it, namely in terms of co-authored publications.
Professor Helena Isidro, researcher from the Accounting research group at BRU-Iscte, also a former Fulbright Scholarship recipient in the United States, joined three Fulbright scholars currently visiting the research unit Peter Madsen, Jamison Kovach and Nancy Landrum for a roundtable discussion on the broader societal implications of management research.
A key highlight of the event was the signing of a new protocol for the Fulbright Award in Management, outlining the programme’s goals and guidelines for the next years (2023/2024-2025/2026). This renewed commitment underscores the enduring partnership between the institutions.
