BRU-Iscte is organized into7 Research Groupsspanning the various key Business areas in a way that mirrors our Unit’s multidisciplinary strengths:

Given the great multidisciplinarity of the Unit’s research groups, collaboration across the different disciplines is encouraged. There are various examples of research activities for the period 2018-2023, where complementarity across BRU’s disciplines has been actively sought: 

  • 18 projects, of which we highlight 
    •  ImAFUSA, a Horizon Europe-SESAR Joint Undertaking project, with a consortium coordinated by BRU-Iscte under the leadership of Sofia Kalakou, with the participation of others researchers from the Management group, as well as the Marketing and Data analytics groups 
    • SYNCLUSIVE, a Horizon Europe project with local coordination at Iscte by BRU, involving researchers from the OBHR and Economics group, as well as from other Iscte research units 
  • 106 publications including 
    •  “Self-employment and eudaimonic well-being: Energized by meaning, enabled by societal legitimacy”, a collaboration between researchers from the Economics & OBHR groups (FT50/ABS4)” 
    • Image, satisfaction, destination and product post-visit behaviours: How do they relate in emerging destinations?”, a collaboration between researchers from the Data Analytics & Marketing groups (ABS4) 
  • 10 concluded joint PhD supervisions 

Moreover, BRU-Iscte commitment to interdisciplinary research has led to several collaborations with other Iscte research units: 

  • Collaborations with the SocioDigital Lab, specifically in Thematic Lines (TL) 1 “Regenerative Territories for Carbon Neutrality”, TL3 “Societal Health” and TL5 “Digital Transformation”, including multiple applications to competitive funding, organisation of conferences and workshops 
  • Multi-Unit projects such as:

Another commitment of BRU-Iscte is it achieve a higher degree of internationalisation. Indeed, in the period 2018-2023, our current researchers have reinforced their international collaborations at various levels: 

  • 44,5% of international co-authorships for the 1180 indexed papers published in that period (525 publications in total) 
  • 29 projects in collaboration with international universities 
  • 68 international awards 
  • Involvement in organising committees and scientific committees of 176 international conferences 
  • Involvement in some 20 international research networks
