Training School: Nature and people in the Nexus
This is the 1st Call for applications to join the training schools, organized and funded by the COST Action CA20138 “Network on water-energy-food nexus for a low-carbon economy in Europe and beyond – NEXUSNET”.
This year’s school focuses on “Nature and people in Nexus” and will take place at the premises of ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon, Portugal on 22-26 May 2023.
Main topics of the school:
- Bringing nature into the Nexus (i.e. biodiversity, climate)
- Nexus governance and stakeholder engagement
- Nexus policies
- Economic valuation of the Nexus
- Nexus innovation and implementation
The sessions of the school and the scientific issues to be addressed are in relation to the Action’s strategic priorities and objective as defined in the Action’s Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Guidelines for applicants
Who is eligible to apply?
- MSc and PhD students, young researchers and innovators (under the age of 40) affiliated with an institution located to a legal entity in COST Full/Cooperative Member, Near Neighbour Country or European RTD.
- Applicants should study or work on the dimensions of Water-Food-Energy-Ecosystems (WEFE) Nexus.
- NEXUSNET membership is required for applications. Applicants may join the Action here.
How to apply?
- All applicants must have an e-COST profile.
- Applications should be submitted by email to info@nexusnet-cost.com & adamos.giannis@gmail.com
- Application mandatory documentation:
- Motivation letter (up to 350 words)
- Detailed curriculum vitae
- Copy of the work (paper or project) to be presented (published or unpublished). Full papers or extended abstracts are acceptable.
- The above documents should be sent as a single .pdf file.

- The number of trainees will be set according to the available financial resources of 2023 budget.
Applications should be submitted until 05 April 2023. Decisions will be announced by 13 April 2023.
