On January 31, 2026, the RefMap Project: Reducing Environmental Footprint through transformative Multi-scale Aviation Planning published its 9th and final newsletter, marking the official end of the project after three years of research dedicated to quantifying and reducing the environmental footprint of traditional aviation and unmanned systems. The newsletter summarises the main results, including 46 scientific articles on climate impact, noise modelling and trajectory optimisation, as well as participation in around 30 academic and industry events. It also highlights the creation of the Aviation Twin Transition (ATT) Cluster, which will continue to promote related activities, and the continued availability of the project’s tools, publications and content on the official website.
