PIONEER Alliance Scholarships
PIONEER Alliance Scholarships are doctoral scholarships under a joint supervision regime, involving not only a supervisor from BRU-Iscte but also a supervisor from one of the universities participating in the PIONEER initiative, with a work plan consisting of the development of scientific research within the scope of BRU-Iscte research groups, in connection with the mission of the PIONEER Alliance, namely in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11 – Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable; the proposed work plan must also correspond to one of the PIONEER Alliance subthemes:
- Sustainable and resilient cities
- Digital Transition
- Nature in the City
- Mobility
- Questioning urban transition
- Energy in the City
- Vulnerability, Inclusion and Health in the city
- Global cities

Merit Scholarships – Iscte Business School
The Iscte Business School awards Merit Scholarships to 3rd cycle students enrolled in one of the IBS doctoral programmes:
- Management with 7 Specializations
- PhD in Economics
- PhD in Finance
- Doctor of Management (DBA) programme*
*Exclusively for the DBA programme not held in partnership with other universities.
The scholarships are intended to support doctoral students in developing their scientific and pedagogical skills, leading to a PhD degree. The scholarship renewal is subject to the appraisal of the Evaluation Committee and to the availability of funds in the School budget.
Scholarships for the Payment of the Annual Tuition Fee – Iscte Business School
The Iscte Business School awards Scholarships for the Payment of the Annual Tuition Fee to students who are enrolled and registered for the first time in the 1st year of one of the IBS PhD programmes:
- Management with 7 Specializations
- PhD in Economics
- PhD in Finance
The scholarships are intended to support doctoral students in developing their scientific and pedagogical skills, leading to a PhD degree. The scholarship renewal is subject to the appraisal of the Evaluation Committee and to the availability of funds in the School budget.
