On the 18th June 2024, the kick-off meeting of the WISE-AI project (Fostering young women’s employability by promoting Sustainable Development Goals through Artificial Intelligence) took place in Nicosia, Cyprus, hosted by consortium coordinator Mind The Game. The project is funded by the Erasmus+ Cyprus National Agency, and has been ongoing since last April. The consortium gathers 6 partners from Cyprus, Lithuania, Spain, Greece, Portugal and The Netherlands.
The project aims to enhance young women’s participation in the field of AI, by making introductory, inclusive educational materials while empowering them to pursue careers, entrepreneurship and skill development in AI and educating them about about its possible applications to achieve UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). WISE-AI intends to achieve this by building a knowledge portal with targeted lesson plans, as well as developing a Minecraft game to test participants’ knowledge of AI with a focus on achieving the SDGs.
During this meeting Project management issues were discussed including quality assurance and dissemination procedures, as well as clarification on the work to be carried within work packages “WISE-AI Knowledge Portal” and “WISE-AI Minecraft” game. The BRU-Iscte team is led by researcher Aristides Ferreira and also includes Ana Catarina Leal, both from the Organizational Behavior & Human Resources research group.
