FCT Scientific Employment Stimulus 2021 – Individual Support Grant
Applications with BRU-Iscte as host organisation
We inform those interested in applying to the FCT (National Research Agency) Call to Scientific Employment Stimulus 2021– Individual Support Grant,for the employment of PhD holders, with the Business Research Unit (BRU-Iscte) as the host organisation, that they must submit their application beforehand to the Unit containing the following information in English:
- Position you are applying to
- Junior researcher– PhD holders for 5 or less years, with limited experience in post-doctoral research or without a scientific curriculum after their PhDs in the scientific area to which they are applying.
- Assistant researcher – PhD holders for over 5 years, with a relevant curriculum in the scientific area to which they are applying, but with limited scientific independence.
- Principal researcher – PhD holders for over 5 years, with a relevant curriculum in the scientific area to which they are applying, demonstrating scientific independence over the past 3 years.
- Coordinating researcher– PhD holders for over 5 years, holding the title of habilitado ou agregado in Portugal, with a curriculum of elevated merit in the scientific area to which they are applying, showing scientific independence and with evidence of leadership in the scientific area to which they are applying.
NOTE: Scientific independence is understood as scientific competence and originality demonstrated by international recognition, experience in doctoral and post-doctoral supervision, or by competitive research funds attracted at national or international level. Scientific leadership requires the demonstration of innovative research and technological development of recognized merit and quality and the acknowledgement as national or international reference in the respective scientific area (e.g. coordination of research groups or centres, international research projects, delivery of plenary talks in high level events).
- Certificate/declaration proving that you have concluded your doctoral degree
- Project/research plan, brief, in English, with a judicious selection of the main activities to be developed, expected outcomes, clearly identifying the scientific challenge at hand while incorporating it in one or more of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of United Nations for 2030. The proposed research plan should also demonstrate its coherence with the host Unit’s research strategy as well as that of the research group wherein their project will be developed
- Synopsis of the scientific and curricular path, with a judicious selection of the main activities developed and results obtained in the last 5 years
- Curriculum vitae in English
- Motivation letter, identifying up to two of the applicant’s main contributions in the last 5 years and their expectation in terms of main proposed contributions for the next few years.
In order to be eligible, applicants must not have a permanent contract with Iscte.
Applications must be sent by email to bru-unide@iscte-iul.pt until the 12th February 2021, with the reference “FCT Individual Call to Scientific Employment 2021” in the subject.
BRU-Iscte’s Scientific Committee, together with the Group Coordinators, will evaluate the submitted applications and give an assessment. The applicants with a positive assessment and whose application will be ultimately selected by BRU-Iscte, can then proceed to submit their application to FCT with BRU-Iscte as the host organisation, until 17h00 of the 26th February 2021.
Please bear in mind that the selection of applicants by BRU-Iscte does not guarantee they will be funded by FCT through individual support grants, it only guarantees the full support of BRU-Iscte to their application to FCT.
