An upcoming learning space for young women curious about AI and its real-world impact

We’ve been working on something that we believe will make a difference — especially for young women who want to learn about technology but haven’t had the chance to engage with it in a meaningful way.

The WISE-AI Knowledge Portal is currently under development. It’s not just another online course. It’s a place where young people — particularly young women — can explore what Artificial Intelligence (AI) actually is, how it works, and how it connects to bigger issues like climate change, gender equality, and access to clean energy.

Why This Matters

Right now, AI is shaping the systems around us — from how decisions are made in hospitals and schools to how we receive information online. But not everyone gets a say in how these systems are built.

That’s part of what drives this project. We want to create something that’s not only educational, but also open and welcoming, especially for those who are often left out of tech spaces.

What’s Inside the Portal?

The course will include six modules, each with its own focus. Together, they offer a balanced mix of basic concepts, ethical questions, hands-on tools, and personal reflection. Here’s a preview:

  1. What is AI, and why should we care?
A simple introduction, with real-life examples and space to reflect on how AI shows up in everyday life.
  2. Skills you’ll actually use
From critical thinking to communication — we explore the kinds of soft and technical skills that are useful when working with (or just understanding) AI.
  3. AI across different sectors
How is AI used in healthcare, education, transport, or even entertainment? This module uses real cases to explain it clearly.
  4. Barriers that keep women out of tech
We look at the factors that discourage women from entering or staying in tech fields — and how to start changing that.
  5. Using tech to support inclusion
This module highlights real examples of how AI can help promote equality, if designed responsibly.
  6. Learning through play: Minecraft and the SDGs
A creative module where learners explore global challenges — like climate action or clean energy — using a specially developed Minecraft environment.

What Else Will the Portal Offer?

  • Activities you can do alone or with a group
  • Short quizzes to check your understanding

Access will be free. You’ll just need to register with your email. No prior knowledge of AI is needed — the course is built to be approachable from the start.

When Will It Be Ready?

We’re still finalizing the platform and testing the materials, but it’s getting close. The portal will be online in the coming months. We’ll post updates on our website and social media as soon as it’s live.

In the meantime, if you’re someone who’s curious about AI, or if you work with young people who might benefit from this course — keep an eye out. We’re building it with you in mind.
