Welcome to the Business Research Unit (BRU-Iscte)

BRU-Iscte team members are constantly striving for excellence in research, contributing to the attractiveness and quality of our doctoral programmes as well as engaging with society in order to develop solutions for specific societal and corporate challenges.

In the same period, BRU-Iscte has also hosted 188 visiting researchers, including 5 Fulbright Scholars and 110 international guest speakers in our Research Seminar Series.

Moreover, the Unit’s researchers are particular conscientious of their role in the promotion of scientific knowledge, engaging regularly in scientific dissemination events and knowledge transfer activities, as well as by participating in several outreach activities, being often present in the media. Many researchers are also involved in expert groups, technical committees and non-profit organisations, trying to bring their contribution to the civil society.

Fully endorsing the ISCTE-IUL Sustainability Policy for Research, BRU-Iscte has been recently collecting information relating to the impact of our research outputs towards delivering the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).For the period 2013-2018, BRU-Iscte researchers have listed 343 publications and 9 projectsas contributing to specific Sustainable Development Goals. For the next years (2019-2022) is committed to build on its interdisciplinary potential to explore new and leverage existing international networks, as well as to further engage in collaborative projects. BRU-IUL is invested in diversifying its funding sources, namely by increasing the number of project proposal applications, in particular to European funding schemes, an

d by developing innovative partnerships with industries. Furthermore, the Unit wants to boost its degree of internationalisation, especially by raising the attractiveness of its doctoral programmes. Finally, BRU-IUL wants to enhance its contribution to social impact, by providing its researchers with tools to consider and assess the impact of their research activities, its potential to societal and public policy change, as well as encouraging them to continue measuring their contribution to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
