BRU Structures
BRU-Iscte’s structures comprise competence centres and laboratories that extend its research beyond academia and into practice. Spanning different areas, these structures bring together interdisciplinary expertise, applied research, and training to respond to real-world challenges. They act as bridges between knowledge and society, turning research into innovative solutions that support productivity, sustainability and wellbeing, through partnerships with companies, public bodies, social sector organisations, and international networks. The SmartVitiNet Competence Centre for Precision Viticulture originates from the EU funded project SmartiVitiNet: Smart and Sustainable Drone-assisted Viticulture Excellence Network (funded by the European Regional Development Fund). It is a shared facility providing leadership, good practices, research support, and training for wine stakeholders in response to the growing need of wine makers for innovative technologies.
BRU_DHI (Business Research Unit – Digital Health International) is a research hub of expertise within Iscte dedicated to advancing digital health innovation and research. It works with an interdisciplinary team comprising global leaders with proven track records in policymaking, project coordination, and academic research across Europe and beyond, with the purpose of enhancing health and care for all, specialising in cutting-edge technologies such as digital identity and health data systems.
BSI_Iscte is a knowledge transfer centre within the Business Research Unit (BRU-Iscte) in collaboration with the Iscte Business School. It brings together teaching, applied research, and organisational collaboration to co-create solutions for a better society, bridging academia with public, private, and social sector organisations.
As part of the EU project INITIATE, the Business Analytics & Data Science Lab is a laboratory within the Iscte – Knowledge and Innovation Centre driven by the challenge of leveraging data for business success. The Lab collaborates with companies on projects that advance interdisciplinary research and innovation in data-driven decision-making, helping them unlock the value of data to enhance productivity and sustainability.
