On 9 and 10 September, the 1st EAI International Conference on Technology and Supply Chain Management (EAI TSCM 2026) was held at Iscte – University Institute of Lisbon bringing together researchers, practitioners and policymakers around the technologies reshaping end-to-end supply chains. BRU-Iscte was a partner of the event, alongside CSCMP Portugal.

The opening day featured two keynote addresses. Professor Rui Soucasaux Sousa, Full Professor of Operations Management at Católica Porto Business School and Honorary Fellow of the European Operations Management Association, delivered the academic keynote on Last-Mile Operations, setting out a systems perspective and a research agenda for the field.

The industry keynote was given by António Carlos Fernandes, Director of Innovation and Projects for Iberia at Luís Simões SA, who addressed collaborative automation as the future of logistics, drawing on four decades of experience in warehouse automation, AGVs and logistics network redesign across the Iberian Peninsula.

An industry round table, moderated by Dora Assis (Events & Digital Content Manager at Supply Chain Magazine), brought together Fausto João Nunes de Figueiredo (Global Head of Transportation, Visteon Corporation), João Marçal (CEO and Co-Founder, F5IT) and Nuno Santos Sousa (Supply Chain Strategy and Operational Excellence Lead, JAPAC, Amgen).

The programme included an industry session chaired by Ana Lúcia Martins featuring Vanessa Lemos, Diogo Casegas and Miguel Nave, two academic sessions chaired by Ulpan Tokkozhina and Paulo Pereira, featuring Massoma Barbari, Duarte Mateus, Vasco Araújo, Paulo Pereira, Peter Kilbourn and Johan Holmgren and a PhD session chaired by Paulo Alexandre Pereira featuring Jorge Soares, complemented by a poster session presented by Ulpan Tokkozhina.

The Best Paper Awards went to How Digital Literacy Shapes Patients’ Adoption of Digital Health Technologies in Portugal, by Vasco Araújo et al. and Beyond the Downward Bias: An Exploratory Study for Scope 3 Emissions in Supply Chain, by Jorge Soares et al.

The second day consisted of an industry visit to Luís Simões SA.
